The site at Somerset Road offers a great opportunity to
return the urban grain of this area to its predominant
residential scale and pattern. By proposing residential development there is the
possibility to complete and enhance existing street scenes.
The scheme proposes a total of 58 units, 24 houses and 34 flats
replacing offices and workshops in an established residential area
close to the town centre. an uncomplicated contemporary design
with the scale of the buildings considered to fit into a gridiron
street pattern with mainly 2-storey terrace houses.
26 of these dwellings would be classed as affordable homes.
